Old Town Knockers: Part 1

Door knockers, that is. Why, what were you expecting?

As I mentioned in my previous post, one of the reasons I love living in Old Town Alexandria is being able to walk around and enjoy the historic houses. Many houses (including ours) keep it really old school by resisting modern fads, such as the fancy contraption known as the doorbell. No, they are sticking with the door knocker to let you know that someone is outside. Most homes have traditional door knockers, but several houses in Old Town have gotten quite creative. In this post I’ll show you 12 of my favorite door knockers that I’ve seen while walking around. ¬†And yes, there is a part 2 coming as well. If you were looking for DOOR knockers, you came to the right place.

  1. I like the dragonfly knocker. If you are willing to grab that, you must really want to see me. Keeps away the uncommitted.
