Rio San Juan: Part 1

The last two weeks have made me extra glad we get both US and Nicaraguan holidays off at work. The Thursday and Friday before Easter are national holiday’s here in Nicaragua, as is Labor Day, celebrated on May 1. A four day weekend over Easter finally gave us the time to make the trek down to the Rio San Juan which is several hours away in car and then in boat.  It was a beautiful part of the country that I had never seen before, and well worth the trip. First off, some photos from the port city of San Carlos, where we parked our car and caught a boat to our river lodge. More on that in the next post.
