Another beautiful weekend. It’s going to be hard to go back inside and work next week. My sister-in-law chose the prime weekend to visit us in DC. The cherry blossoms were at their peak in most areas and the weather couldn’t have been better. Of course, this combination brought hoards of people to DC, specifically the Mall. The line to get into the National Air and Space Museum snaked for blocks in both directions.
On Saturday, we ate lunch near Eastern Market and explored the outdoor market area – trying not to buy everything that caught our eye. I’m going to miss the convenience of Eastern Market when we move.
After lunch we walked down to the Mall and enjoyed an orchids exhibit at the United States Botanic Garden.
We also wandered around the Hirshhorn Museum – one of the less crowded museums.
We didn’t walk all the way down to the Tidal Basin, the most famous spot to see the blossoms. Instead, we found the grove of cherry blossoms at Upper Senate Park, which is still gorgeous.
